November 3, 2020--Gettysburg Time
What is at stake is nothing less than the fate of our nation.
Lincoln posed that same question at Gettysburg in 1863.
He began--
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.
We are testing today the very same thing. Can our nation, conceived as it is, endure.
I am trying to remain optimistic but am not sure how to answer Lincoln's question. We will have part of an answer tonight. And then more in the coming weeks and months.
It is that perilous.
